Hornady 12ga Slug w/Sabot 300gr FTX /5

Rifled slug guns finally have ammunition built to match a rifle's downrange manners, and that's exactly what this 8623 load delivers. Each box holds five 2-3/4" 12-gauge shells loaded with Hornady's 300-grain FTX (Flex Tip eXpanding) sabot slug, a polymer-tipped, jacketed bullet mated to a sabot for a true 200-yard sight zero and sub-2-inch groups at 100 yards. The polymer tip boosts the projectile's ballistic coefficient for a flatter trajectory and initiates reliable expansion on impact at a wide range of velocities, giving hunters consistent terminal performance on medium-to-large game. Hornady's SST 12-gauge slug (part 8623) takes the proven patented Flex Tip technology from Hornady's super-accurate bullet design and transforms a favorite rifled-barrel slug gun into a firearm that outperforms some centerfire rifles. Each box holds five 2-3/4" shells loaded with a 300-grain Flex Tip eXpanding (FTX) sabot slug with a red polymer tip, serrated copper jacket, and lead core, built on a high-density plastic hull with a metal head and non-corrosive primer. The red polymer tip's sharp point increases the ballistic coefficient of the FTX, allowing it to fly faster, farther and on a flatter trajectory, while the Flex Tip initiates expansion at all velocities on impact. That combination is what lets this load deliver sub-2" groups at 100 yards and feature one of the flattest trajectories on the market , with a muzzle velocity of 2000 feet per second and roughly 2664 foot-pounds of energy at the muzzle . One key fit note before buying: SST slugs are designed for use in fully rifled barrels only , so confirm your shotgun barrel is fully rifled rather than smoothbore or cylinder-bore before running these.
