Hornady's Critical Defense 30 Carbine load (item #81030) is built specifically to modernize the ballistic performance of the M1 Carbine platform for personal-defense use.
Item #81030 comes 25 rounds to a box and pairs 21st-century ballistic technology with the patented Flex Tip design of the 30 caliber 110 grain FTX bullet.
The standout feature is that Flex Tip bullet itself:
its patented Flex Tip helps keep the nose cavity free from clogging as it passes through heavy clothing while also helping the bullet expand at low velocities
, giving it more reliable terminal performance than traditional round-nose carbine ammo.
This design routinely delivers 15 inches of penetration in ballistic gelatin tests, and at 2000 fps this load dramatically redefines the performance of the storied M1 Carbine.
For low-light handling, the nickel-plated brass case adds visibility and corrosion resistance, and
the nickel-plated cases resist corrosion and simplify chamber checks in low light, while optimized propellants burn quickly to reduce recoil and limit muzzle flash, preserving night vision.
This load is intended for .30 Carbine chambered rifles (such as the M1 Carbine) rather than any handgun platform, so confirm your firearm is chambered in .30 Carbine before purchasing.
