CCI's .44 Spl/44 Rem Mag Pest Control Shotshell (part #3744) is a specialty centerfire handgun round built to make short work of snakes and other small, hard-to-hit pests at close range. This 140-grain load uses #9 shot with a 1000 fps muzzle velocity and 311 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, in an aluminum case . A rigid plastic capsule breaks apart on the rifling to deliver consistent shot patterns, while a flexible base wad prevents gas blow-by and CCI's reliable primers ensure dependable ignition . It's chambered to run in both .44 Special and .44 Remington Magnum revolvers, though shooters using lightweight revolvers should note that capsule movement under recoil can occasionally cause cylinder lock-up, so it's worth testing a few rounds first . These cases are marked NR (Not Reloadable), since the plastic capsule design is part of what makes them work and attempting to reload can compromise the case structure ; this load is intended strictly for pest control at close range rather than self-defense or hunting larger game.
