CCI's 45 Colt Shotshell (part #3746) is a purpose-built centerfire load for close-range pest and snake control from a .45 Colt revolver. Each round carries 150 grains of #9 shot at 1,000 fps in a rigid plastic capsule designed to rupture as it travels down the rifling, delivering a wide, effective pattern on small, fast-moving targets. A flexible base wad prevents gas blow-by, and reliable CCI primers back consistent ignition, while residue removes with normal cleaning methods. These cases are marked NR and are not reloadable, as rupture of reloaded cases can cause severe injury. Sold in 10-round boxes, they're intended strictly for short-range pest control rather than self-defense, and CCI cautions that they should not be used in firearms with ported barrels or ported recoil compensators, may cause cylinder lock-up in lightweight revolvers due to capsule movement, and may not function properly in rifles.
