Rather than a set screw biting directly into the die's threads, the split-ring design clamps around the entire die body so the tightened screw never touches the threads and cannot damage the die. Constant, even pressure across the threads holds each ring firmly in place, so your die settings stay put when you swap between calibers. Built-in wrench flats let you remove and reinstall dies without resorting to pliers that can chew up the lock ring. These are a practical upgrade for any reloading bench, working with Hornady's Lock-N-Load AP press, other Hornady presses, or dies from other manufacturers using the standard 7/8"-14 thread — and with six rings per pack, you'll have enough to outfit several dies at once.
